Proverbs31

Proverbs 31 Women

A new ministry for women 18 and older, Proverbs 31 Women, will have its initial meeting on Sunday, March 21, from 12:15 - 1:15 in the Fellowship Hall. Women interested in attending will be asked to bring a little snack and spend time getting to know other women of the church. Child care will be provided by the Youth Group for a small donation, and those needing child care will be asked to sign up on a sheet in the Narthex in advance.

The plan will then be to meet once a month on the 3rd Sunday of the month in the same place and begin to talk about issues that Christian women face, what it means to be a Proverbs 31 woman, share testimonies and miracle reports, share prayer requests, learn about the fruits of the Spirit and how to pray effectively, and any other topic that those in attendance want to investigate further.

The purpose of the group is to lead women into a personal relationship with Christ by using Proverbs 31:10-31 as a guide. We are real women offering real-life solutions to women who are striving to maintain life’s balance, in spite of today’s hectic pace and cultural pull away from godly principles. The information below will give you a sense of what we will be talking about :

Her Assets - (according to Proverbs) Her Attitude
She is trustworthy (v. 11) She is delightful (V. 13)
She is a positive influence (v. 12) She is healthy (V.18)
She is a hard worker (v.13, 14, 19, 24-27) She is compassionate (V. 20)
She is a planner (V. 21,22) She is unselfish (V.20)
She is protective (V. 27) She is public (V. 25)

Her Achievements Her Applause
She meets the needs of her home (V. 15) From her family (V. 28)
She invests for her household (V. 16) From her husband (V. 28-29)
She keeps herself in shape (V. 17) From God's word (V. 30)
She helps her husband become successful (V. 23) From her works (V. 31)

We are looking to form relationships among the women of the church which will strengthen our foundation and allow us to call on each other more because we will truly feel connected in Christ. Liesl Leeper and Amy Szabo will be the leadership of the ministry.

SERVICE DIRECTORY

We are creating a service directory so other members of the church are aware of your profession, business, and/or talents. Please provide us with any information you wish to be included. You may do this by 1) Putting the information on a slip of paper OR provide a business card; mark either with "SERVICE DIRECTORY" and put it in the "Fellowship Committee" mailbox in the church office or 2) send the information to the church e-mail and be sure to mark it "SERVICE DIRECTORY" so Robin knows to route it to the Fellowship Committee. The church e-mail address is commerceumc@sbcglobal.net – this is a wonderful way to support each other and helps those new to the area find you and your business! Any questions, please contact Connie Owens at cowen54@sbcglobal.net.

MEIJER COMMUNITY PROGRAM

Some of you are already in the Meijer rewards program and helping the church financially just by shopping at Meijer and using your Community Rewards card, we thank you!  For those of you who shop at Meijer and are not in the program, it’s very easy to join.  You can do so three different ways:

1)     Call the Meijer Community Rewards phone number 800-962-7011 and tell them you wish to register for the Commerce United Methodist program.  Our program number is 315381, you will need to give them this number.

2)
You may register at any Meijer Store at the Customer Service Desk.  Again, let them know you wish to join the Commerce United Methodist program and give them our program number.

3)
You may register on-line by visiting the Meijer website: meijer.com\rewards and follow the instructions.  Again, you will need the program number.

In these financially difficult times, this is a wonderful way to raise funds for the church without costing you a penny.  We thank you in advance for taking the time to join and help out.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Susan Nadeau (248) 202-0661 or you may send me an e-mail at smnadeau58@yahoo.com
