FAITH FLIGHT Sunday School Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Who can attend Faith Flight at CUMC?
A:
Children preschool to Senior High School are invited to attend. You don’t have
to be a member to attend our classes – every child is welcome!
Q: My child is
in 6th Grade, should he attend Faith Flight or Faith Flight Bible
Study?
A: Faith Flight Sunday school has classes for preschool through 6th grade. Students in Jr. and Sr. High meet during the 10 am hour for Faith Flight Bible study. Students in 6th grade have the choice to attend Faith Flight Sunday school or Bible Study.
Q:
Is there a fee for my children to attend Christian Education Classes at CUMC?
A:
No. Our Christian Education programs are supported by the tithes and offerings
of our church.
Q:
What will my child be learning?
A:
Faith Flight is Christ centered and focuses on the stories of the Bible.
Each month, we study one Bible story; taking the time to really learn and
understand it. Since children learn
in different ways, we find that reinforcing the stories using numerous
techniques really help the children.
For example, one week, your child’s class might be in Cyber Space
(computers) learning the story of Daniel and reinforcing that knowledge by
playing a question and answer game on the computer.
The next week, they may travel to Creation Island (Art) to hear the story
again in a different way and then make a craft to remind them of the story. Your
child also will be learning Bible memory verses to reinforce the Bible stories.
Q:
How do I know my child will be safe?
A:
CUMC’s Christian Education Department tries to provide the safest environment we
can for all our kids. All the
teachers at CUMC have been cleared by Michigan State Police. The Christian
Education Director is on call throughout the Sunday School hour to check on
classrooms and handle emergencies.
Q:
What are Bible Bucks?
A:
When the kids attend Children’s Church, Faith Flight Sunday School or Kids’
Worship, they receive Bible Bucks. They also earn Bible Bucks for answering
questions, bringing their Bibles and/or friends to church. On the last Sunday of
each month, the Bible Bucks store is open for the kids to spend their Bible
Bucks. Donations to the Bible Bucks
store are always welcomed!
Q: If I come to the 9 am or 11am service and take my kids to
Sunday School at 10 am, I’ll be at church for two hours.
A:
OK, so this isn’t a question, but it is a comment we’ve heard. We believe the
most important job as parents and Christians is to help our children become
followers of Christ. Investing two hours a week at church is hardly an
investment at all. If you do decide to bring your kids to church for Faith
Flight and you’re not sure what you should do for an hour between services, come
help in the classrooms or attend an adult Sunday School class.
Q: Does my child have snack time?
A: Some classes
will do a small snack for the children. Please let us know if your child has
allergies by listing them on the registration form
Q: Is there
anything that children should not bring with them?
A: It is preferable that children do not bring food or toys into class with
them. It is always best to suggest that things be left in the car or at home.
That way there are no lost toys or important items.
Q:
